A Letter from our President

My name is Hasana Avey, and I am the Chapter President of the Iota Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi at Wilfrid Laurier University. I am honoured and grateful to serve an organization of empowered women who inspire me every single day.

Founded in 1872 at the Alpha Chapter of Syracuse University, Alpha Phi has developed over 170 collegiate chapters, making Alpha Phi one of the oldest and largest women’s fraternities globally. Alpha Phi is proud to have a network of over 250,000 members across North America who are bonded by our values of sisterhood, character development, generosity and innovation. We offer a rich history, full of deep-rooted tradition, everlasting bonds, and an incomparable experience.

In the second semester of my first year, I rushed Alpha Phi. Rushing was the best decision I could have possibly made. Alpha Phi has guided and pushed me to strive towards incredible success throughout my University experience thus far. The connections and friendships I have made would not have been possible if it were not​ for Alpha Phi. The leadership opportunities and experiences I have encountered have helped me grow, gain confidence, and learn real-world knowledge that I can apply after my time in University. I have found my best friends, mentors, and a true sense of community. My university experience has been completely altered because of the wonderful group of people who push me to achieve goals and greatness on a daily basis. My love for Alpha Phi and the passion that I see in our chapter is incredible. It is truly a gift to call the women that make up the Iota Theta chapter my sisters.

I am now and forever grateful for the love, acceptance, passion, and opportunities that Alpha Phi has provided. I hope to share a similar experience with current and future sisters for years to come.
