One of the most important aspects to being a member of Alpha Phi is having the opportunity to give back to the community. As a chapter, we place a strong emphasis on philanthropy & service. Whether it is hosting our own philanthropy events such as Red Dress Gala, or volunteering at a local women's shelter, we always strive our hardest to give back to the community, as well as support a variety of important causes. 
 
Each year, the Iota Theta Chapter hosts four philanthropy events - Red Dress Gala, Heart Throb, Move Your Phi't and Heart Week. All of the proceeds from these events benefit the Alpha Phi Foundation, and to support local heart health organizations such as St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, Waterloo.

Aside from the four main philanthropy events, we hold each year, the sisters of the Iota Theta Chapter also volunteer their time within the Waterloo community. Sisters have visited Mary's Place, an emergency shelter that provides safety for families, women, and transgendered persons. To learn more about Mary's Place, please click here. Most recently, we have established a relationship with the Waterloo Food Bank and sent dozens of sisters to volunteer numerous times throughout the year.
